King crab, A5 wagyu, freshly cooked tempura, and Peking duck come together at an expansive new all-you-can-eat dining destination in Ginza.

Ginza is best known for polished department stores, discreet sushi counters, and destination restaurants where meals unfold course by course. Ginza Yotsumi, which opened on August 22, 2026, offers a very different way to experience the district: an ambitious seafood buffet built around abundance, variety and live cooking.

Occupying the entire ninth floor of Ginza Velvia-kan, the restaurant spans 317 tsubo (approximately 1,048 square meters) and has around 350 seats. Its operator, Eisei Co., Ltd., describes it as one of Japan's largest seafood buffet dining venues. More than 200 dishes are planned across seafood, Japanese, Chinese, and Western-style cooking, giving international residents and travelers an unusually broad introduction to flavors commonly encountered in Japan.

Seafood at the center

The headline attraction is seafood. According to the restaurant, the selection may include king crab delivered from Hokkaido, abalone, oysters, turban shell, sea bream, horse mackerel, grouper and sea bass. A live seafood tank holds selected seasonal fish and shellfish before service. As with any restaurant relying on fresh market supply, the exact lineup may change with the season and availability.

The format extends well beyond a conventional self-service buffet. An open kitchen brings cooks into view as they prepare tempura and Chinese dishes, while a dedicated oven roasts Peking duck and staff carve it in front of guests. Other announced dishes range from teppanyaki seafood and meat to dim sum, soups, hot dishes, noodles and desserts.

Each table also has its own hot pot, allowing diners to cook A5-grade wagyu, seafood, and vegetables as shabu-shabu or sukiyaki. For first-time visitors to Japan, shabu-shabu is a communal hot-pot style in which thin slices of meat and other ingredients are briefly swished through simmering broth. Sukiyaki typically uses a sweeter soy-based seasoning. The table-top element makes the meal interactive, while the live stations offer the sound, aroma, and immediacy of food cooked to order.

From wagyu to Chinese delicacies

The menu's scale is deliberately eclectic. The announced selection includes A5 wagyu, lamb, foie gras fried rice, shark fin dumplings, braised abalone, shrimp with salted egg yolk, miso soups made with shrimp or crab stock, and soups featuring ingredients such as bird's nest and silkie chicken. Familiar options including salad, fried chicken, curry, pasta, pizza, udon and soba should make the venue approachable for mixed groups and families.

This is not a strictly Japanese restaurant. Instead, it offers the kind of border-crossing dining experience increasingly common in large Asian cities: Japanese premium ingredients, Chinese banquet dishes, teppanyaki, hot pot, and international comfort foods under one roof. That breadth may appeal especially to groups whose members have different tastes or varying levels of familiarity with Japanese cuisine.

A two-hour, all-inclusive format

The standard two-hour all-you-can-eat course is priced at JPY 13,800 per person, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and is available for parties of two or more. Through October 31, 2026, an opening price of JPY 11,000 is being offered. The opening campaign also includes one complimentary highball made with a choice of Yamazaki, Hakushu, or Hibiki premium Japanese whisky, while fugu (pufferfish) is scheduled to join the all-you-can-eat selection during the campaign period. The restaurant will also offer bottles of the three whiskies and lobster at special prices.

The drinks list ranges from draft beer, wine, sake and shochu to whisky, cocktails and soft drinks. For visitors interested in pairings, the variety makes it easy to move from sake with seafood to whisky with teppanyaki or richer meat dishes.

Who is it for?

With its large dining room and broad menu, Ginza Yotsumi is positioned for more than a quick meal. The restaurant says it can accommodate family gatherings, celebrations, business dining, and smaller parties. The buffet format may be particularly convenient for international groups, as diners can see many dishes before choosing and build a meal at their own pace.

Still, the most interesting question is whether a restaurant of this size can deliver both variety and the sense of freshness promised by its live tanks and open kitchen. That balance - between scale and careful preparation - is what we will be watching during our visit.
